Dear Md Karimbakhsh rest in peace...
Such wonderful warm and light memorial service yesterday, 2019 April 30, in a full temple and hallway, with a full basement, and a full Wakilhouse (there were screens). Embraced many friends and acquaintances (from long ago and more recently) with compassion.
So grateful that my harpsong 'Prayer for the dead' could contribute to the whole, which was so lovingly supported by all those present.
We will miss him, we wish him peace ...

My a cappella version as an alternative for the Dutch National Anthem, that I wrote for the #WilhelmusChallenge of the Dutch Opera & Ballet, has now been placed at their site, along with versions of Bert Pfeiffer for Big Band, and the sung version of Mike Boddé with piano (below the video on youtube an English translation, fits melody, and a link to the website of the Dutch Opera and Ballet where the other versions of the WilhelmusChallenge are audible). Onze Kerstconcerten gaan over Licht, geboorte en welkom zijn op aarde. Zoals u van ons gewend bent, brengen we onze hartverwarmende teksten op Middeleeuwse en Folk melodieën, gezellig afgewisseld met een vrolijk swingende noot.
We geven onze professionele kerstconcerten als akoestisch TRIO:
* zangeres, zangcoach, dirigente, multi-instrumentaliste en componiste Marja de Jong,
* zangeres, koriste, zangdocente en koordirigente Saskia Jonk en
* breed ontwikkelde, muzikale amateur Liwenna Tyms.
Samen zingen we natuurlijk in prachtige harmonie en bespelen we bijzondere instrumenten als harp, kistharp, handharmonium, psalterium, blokfluit, xylofoon vergezeld van diverse percussie klanken.
Ons publiek komt niet alleen genieten van ons zalvende klankbad en onze feestelijke uitstraling, maar neemt regelmatig deel aan het geheel! We dragen feestelijke middeleeuwse (Renaissance) kleding.

Marja's concerts contain Swing, Ballad, Irish, Russian, French, meditative and Medieval music, Antique Italian Opera Arias, spiri-cabaret (see site, pic with golden hat), and here... a new meditative song.
'For the Beauty of the Earth' is one of the audience's favourite songs, especially if the other voices and instruments join in. Since there was no piano available in the Yoga Temple, the harp-like piano accompaniment is in this video coming from a CD (all instruments played by Marja de Jong, who also conducts the small unissono choir, and sings the extra solo voices herself). It is the only song so far where Marja is only singing, and does not accompany herself on any instrument simultaniously (other than on the CD).
The words of the 4 verses are from Pierpoint (small changes by Marja). All other words, melodies and music are from Marja de Jong. Music for solo singing, choir, piano, uke and percussion.

Marja en Myrthe in het ArtCafé Kerkje te Apeldoorn...
De Theaterzaal van Parnassia ligt aan zee. Ik was uitgenodigd op zaterdag 26-9-2015 daar een concert te geven voor een volle zaal. Daarna natuurlijk pootje baden. Je ziet mijn voeten in de zee en hoort het slot van één van mijn songs uit het concert. Ik zing en speel alles zelf in de opname. Aansluitend delen uit het concert. Weer heel leuke reacties en een hoop gegrinnik om mijn Spiri-cabaret van Trilogica.
Concert in het Kulturhus te Wekerom op 18 april 2015. Zo'n mooii lied.

Marja's concerts contain Swing, Ballad, Irish, Russian French, meditative and Medieval music, spiri-cabaret (see site, pic with golden hat), and here... a renewed Antique Italian Opera Aria.
Its melody originally by Giulio Caccini (Thou, who hast wings, Amore), now like a kind of lute song with Marja's own lyrics and music for choir, recorder, violoncel and percussion.
'My Songs Have Wings' is really one of Marja's favourite songs, especially if the other voices and instruments join in. Since this was a solo concert, here only solo singing with 'lute'.

Its melody is traditional, now with Marja's own lyrics (first verse in Russian), a rhythmical twist, and music for choir, recorder, violoncel and percussion.
'The Birch' is one of the audience's favourite songs, especially if the other voices and instruments join in. Since this was a solo concert, here only solo singing with uke and drum. Usually Marja sings it with domra, a Russian string instrument, but she did not bring the domra that day.
The audience practised at forehand and joined in enthousiastically.

2. The Birch (part, tune = Russian, in Dutch): There in the fields is a birch full of leefs, yeah (rep) lalala. Out of 3 branches I'll create flutes, yeah (rep) lalala. Then I'll create a balalaika...
3. Ton Château (Your Castle, part, in French): I will nock at your gate. I hope all will be well. You see me, and welcome me. There is this ancient link.
4. Tourdion (A dance, part, tune = French, in French): Sing and pray, my friends, oh how good that is! Sing and pray, my friends, it will bring so much peace on earth! 5. Nutcracker March, Tschaikovski (part, arranged for ensemble): you hear trumpets (papapa), violin glissandi (chest harp), windpalyers (handharmonium), pizzicati violoncel (guitar), and so on.
6. Far, far away (part, tune = Italian Opera Aria, in English): here verse 3. Gnomes at the background smile and invite you... come now, explore this dreamworld inside you. Elves come to take your hand. It's quite an art though. Still, join in every day, it makes your heart glow!
7. Windbroke (part): an Irish tune on tin whistle, with handharmonium like bagpipes, and me playing the Bodhrán (Irish drum)
8. Beautiful Garden (part, tune = Irish, in English): Our heart is a beautiful garden, where Love will meet us all, We dwell in this beautiful garden, as golden Lights will call. We bid Love: Please, come easy, as the leaves grow on the tree. Abide with us for ever. Your Light shall set us free.
