Marja de Jong studied singing, conducting and composing at the conservatories of Arnhem and The Hague (NL). She coaches (professional) singers. After graduation Marja switched to mostly light classical repertoire, s.a. folk, medieval, singer-songwriter and meditative music.
This refined multi-instrumentalist accompanies her own singing mostly on Celtic harp, alternated with many unusual instruments like a.o. domra, lute (oud), psalterium, zither, tanpura, harpsichord, several ukes, (foot pumped) handharmonium, melodica, concertina, and... loop station.

Professioneel zangeres, dirigent, componist en multi-instrumentalist Marja de Jong geeft makkelijk aansprekende concerten in diverse stijlen (van middeleeuws tot singer-songwriter, van folk tot swing, van spiricabaret tot meditatief). Daarbij begeleidt deze zoetgevooisde dame zichzelf afwisselend op harp, psalterium, handharmonium, (viool-)ukelele, blokfluit, bodhrán, en ook het publiek wordt actief betrokken bij het concert! Een feest van ontroering en vrolijkheid, een hart onder de riem voor velen.

Marja de Jong behaalde haar conservatoriumdiploma's na studie in Den Haag en volgde masterclasses in uiteenlopende stijlen waaronder Oude Muziek bij Emma Kirkby. Daarnaast verdiepte Marja zich in lichter repertoire, volksmuziek en meditatieve muziek. Met haar warme, stralende stem bereikt Marja de luisteraars in het hart, waar haar liedteksten oer-wijsheden wakker kussen. Marja's uitgebreide repertoire staat garant voor diepgang, variatie en ontroering met een vrolijke noot.

The Christmas concerts of the MYRTHE TRIO have themes like Light, birth and being welcome on earth. They usually wear castle clothes and bring their heartwarming lyrics on medieval and folk melodies, alternated with some joyfully swinging songs.

♪ Saskia Jonk has much experience as a professional soloist, choral singer, voice teacher and choir conductor. In addition to her studies at the Schumann Academy Saskia studied the Estill Voice Training System. She had singing lessons with Elena Vink, Ineke Kieft, Paul Tripels and Anja Kwakkestein and others.Saskia accompanies himself on guitar and piano. She prefers to work with professional musicians. Saskia Jonk teaches singing of both light and classical music in the surroundings of Nijmegen/ Wijchen, and assists parents with small children in singing and making music together, creating a way to freely explore and develop.
♪ Liwenna Tyms had for her musical foundation lessons panflute, trumpet, guitar, ukulele, drums and djembe. A theater course brings her an even broader support. As a child Liwenna performed the leading role in a musical, in which she also sang as a soloist. The singing comes from her father. Since Liwenna likes Medieval Festivals so much, she prepares herself from September 2016 to join the concerts of Marja de Jong with Medieval, Folk and Swing music. Now Liwenna sings as a Myrthe Musician the higher backing vocals, while playing instruments like the psaltery, the ukulele, the chimes and various percussion instruments.

MYRTHE werkt natuurlijk akoestisch en bestaat uit zangeres, zangcoach, dirigente, multi-instrumentaliste en componiste Marja de Jong, zangeres, koriste, zangdocente en koordirigente Saskia Jonk en Liwenna Tyms met zang en diverse instrumenten. VIDEO
Samen zingen ze in prachtige harmonieën en bespelen ze bijzondere instrumenten als harp, kistharp, handharmonium, psalterium, blokfluit en xylofoon, vergezeld van diverse percussie klanken. Hun publiek komt niet alleen genieten van hun zalvende klankbad en hun feestelijke uitstraling, maar neemt regelmatig deel aan het geheel!

De UKE-GROEP komt bijeen op de 2e zaterdagen van de maand in omgeving Arnhem. Tokkelen en strummen, zowel klassiek als swingend, zowel van tabulatuur als van accoorden.
